Florida Summer Bass Fishing 2023

Florida largemouth bass

Many people don’t know but Central Florida Summer Bass Fishing can be TONS of FUN! Most days it doesn’t matter if you want to fish with shiners are strictly throw artificial baits, we will put you on fish. Now, I highly recommend having some shiners behind the boat even for the guests throwing lures, but it’s not a deal breaker if we don’t. If throwing a topwater bait to watch fish “blow-up” your lure is your deal, this is the place to be for great early morning action.

Starting out on the Winter Haven South Chain we are all about throwing Pop-R’s or Baby Spooks for the best early morning topwater bite. The lakes we regularly fish here are clearer water lakes by Florida standards. They are spring-fed and can have water clarity up to 10ft at times depending upon rain fall & run-off. The reason for the smaller baits here is because the shad in these lakes are the same little glass minnows, emerald shiners, what ever you want to call them 2″-3″ white/silver baitfish that you will find in most corners of the country.

While we always enjoy the topwater action, we will still have a full arsenal of flukes, jerkbaits, and of course 3″-4″ swimbaits in several different set-ups. Again, because of the shad these bass are chasing we’re throwing whites, silvers, and watermelon pearl (for our Zoom Flukes in particular). I’ll always have a couple rods for deeper schooling fish from rattle trap type baits to other “lead chunk” style baits.

For those who may be staying out at Camp Mack – https://guyharveycampmack.com – who want to experience the thrill of Florida Summer Bass Fishing on the Kissimmee Chain we have you covered. Fishing in Old World Florida is a truly unique experience. Not only do you have the chance to catch a true trophy bass but enjoying untouched beauty of the lakes, alligators, and eagles. Quite often we also encounter deer and wild turkeys. We have a couple options out here most days with starting out the morning with a combination of shiners behind the boat & throwing artificial baits up front then sometimes switching up to straight artificial baits – depending upon our guests and their fishing “styles”.

Throwing Zara Spooks, a Devil’s Horse, or hollow body frog bait can be very productive in the early hours along with always having a Gambler EZ Swimmer on board. Now for those who are “more experienced” and are proficient with bait casters we can get up into the jungle and flip the kissimmee grass lines, and for those who are most comfortable with spinning gear we can fish the boat trails and lily pad patches.
